What to expect
Salzburg (Pass By)
Your private driver will pick you up directly at your hotel in Salzburg and begin a scenic journey toward the Bavarian Alps and the Berchtesgaden region. The drive takes approximately 45–60 minutes and passes through beautiful Alpine landscapes, traditional villages, and mountain valleys.
As the scenery becomes more dramatic, enjoy panoramic views of forested slopes and surrounding peaks. Traveling in a private vehicle ensures a relaxed pace, comfortable travel, and optional photo stops before arriving at Obersalzberg, the starting point for the Eagle’s Nest visit.
Kehlsteinhaus (Eagle’s Nest)
From Obersalzberg, guests continue to the Eagle’s Nest by special mountain buses traveling along a spectacular road carved into the mountainside. The bus ride takes approximately 20 minutes and climbs to an altitude of 1,834 meters, offering impressive views along the way.
From the drop-off point, a historic brass elevator built inside the mountain transports visitors directly to the Eagle’s Nest. Originally constructed in 1938 during the Nazi era, the site today combines important historical context with breathtaking Alpine scenery.
The panoramic terrace offers unforgettable views across the Bavarian and Austrian Alps, making it one of the most remarkable viewpoints in the region.
The Alps (Pass By)
After visiting the Eagle’s Nest, your private driver will meet you at the agreed location to continue toward Hohenwerfen Castle. The approximately 45-minute drive leads through scenic Alpine valleys, mountain rivers, traditional villages, and dramatic limestone peaks.
Traveling privately allows you to enjoy the scenery at a comfortable pace before arriving at the impressive fortress rising high above the Salzach Valley.
Burg Hohenwerfen
Hohenwerfen Castle stands proudly on a rocky hill overlooking the Salzach Valley, surrounded by impressive Alpine scenery. Built in the 11th century, the fortress served as a strategic defensive stronghold and later as a residence for the archbishops of Salzburg.
Visitors can explore historic courtyards, towers, and exhibitions while enjoying panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. The castle also gained international fame as a filming location for the classic WWII movie Where Eagles Dare (1968), starring Richard Burton and Clint Eastwood. Several exterior scenes were filmed here, adding cinematic history to the castle’s medieval atmosphere.
Salzburg (Pass By)
Following your visit to Hohenwerfen Castle, your private driver will begin the comfortable return journey to Salzburg. The approximately 40-minute drive follows the scenic Salzach Valley, offering views of Alpine peaks, green meadows, and traditional Austrian villages.
The tour concludes with drop-off at your accommodation in Salzburg, completing a memorable private experience filled with history, mountain scenery, and cultural highlights.
